The Smithsonian American Art Museum announced its winners of the novel Media/New Century Award.


The Smithsonian American Art Museum announced its winners of the novel Media/New Century Award. Cindy Bernard, Russet Lederman and Patrick Lichty have each been awarded $4000 grants for their propos modern technology projects. The Smithsonian and Dominions--a Richmond, VA based mechanical value Company--jointly support the award, which is dedicated to sustaining American landscape photography as on-line artwork. Bernard's throw out reminisces on iconic landscapes set in cinema. Lederman is using Flash and Shockwave programs to create a collage of stories mustered from memories, inspirations and attachments to locations of various individuals. Lichty's cast is bringing together on-line panoramic photography, streaming audio and video along with paragraphs constructing a story of the 1990 urban sprawl. These artists' work is supported on Hellos--the museum's on-line American photography center--at www.AmericanArt.si.edu.
