Black Dog Publishing Ltd/63 pp./price unavailable (sb) Commissioned by way of the London Arts Board, this work presents three examples of interdisciplinary collaboration. "Subtle Bodies" describes the work of Bruce Gilchrist and discusses his involvement with science and the inclusion of the audience in his performances. Gilchrist recreates dream imagery forward video and then uses computer and EEG machines to replay the images as answers to questions pos by dint of audience members. During a performance, the artist is in a state of REM The question and answer sessions made possible by the and of the scientific instruments allow communication between the conscious and unconscious minds. "Between Here and Now" examines the practices of Those Environmental Artists and their process of incorporating individuals not traditionally involved in the art world into their work. Several installations through the group are discussed including donated shoe and the written accounts of what activities the proprietors had engaged in while wearing them. The volume concludes with "Disorders," an account of a 24-hour termination staged at St. Thomas's Hospital in London. To publicize the opening of a fresh sleep disorder wing, the hospital invited several artists to create installations and stage performances around the theme of sleep
